Nature of Event :5.2 km / 3km / 1.2km Open Water Swim Race  
Date : 29th Aug 2021 (SUN)

Peng Chau Challenge is an open water swim event that suits swimmers of all abilities. The event includes three distances: 5.2km, 3km and 1.2km.  We emphasize on a friendly atmosphere that is welcoming of all swimmers from beginners to elites.  

Race schedule: TBC

Exact start times will be announced two days before race day due to social distancing regulation.  There will be different wave starts. 

Race venue: Peng Chau

Quota is limited and will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis.

Fees

5.2km race:

  • Early Bird: $800 (until 

  • Standard: $750 (until  Aug 25th, 6pm)  

3.0km race:

  • Early Bird: $450 (until 

  • Standard: $500 (until Aug 25th, 6pm)  

1.2km race:

  • Early Bird: $300 (until 

  • Standard: $350 (until Aug 25th, 6pm)  

Sponsor a Splash swimmer (Optional):

Swimmers can sponsor a Splash swimmer to race at a discounted race entry fee of $250:

  • 30 spots for 1.2km race 

Safety buoys (Optional):

  • $180 (Order online and collect on race day)

  • $250 (Purchase on race day)

Age categories:

  • 1.2km race: AG: 12 & Under, 13-15 , 16-19 , 20-39 , 40-49 , 50 & Over ; Male and Female

  • 3.0km race: AG:         15yrs & Under, 16-19 , 20-39 , 40-49 , 50 & Over ; Male and Female

  • 5.2km race: AG:         15yrs & Under, 16-19 , 20-39 , 40-49 , 50 & Over ; Male and Female

  • Age groups are determined based on a participant's age on race day

Prize: 

Medals/Prizes will be presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category in each race distance.

Rules and Regulations 

  1. Declaration of responsibility is required for all swimmers.

  2. No one should join the training unless he/she is physically fit, and in excellent health condition.

  3. Cut off times

    • 1.2km, 30 mins

    • 3km, 80 mins

    • 5.2km, 130mins , Pass Tai Lei Island 1km Checkpoint within 25mins

  4. Racers may be asked to provide proof of competence. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

  5. Racers must obey instructions to kayakers, helpers and personnel of the race.

  6. Racers should maintain a distance of at least 30 meters from the shore.  

  7. Racers will take full responsibility and safety during the race.

  8. Wetsuit, fins or paddles are not allowed.

  9. SAFETY BUOYS are mandatory during the ENTIRE race.​ Losing a buoy during the race will result in disqualification.

Check in Procedures:

Course Map : 5.2 km​

  1. Water start, take the stairs (Seaside of Waterfront Playground)

  2. Take NW to Tai Le Island, then turn left, pass 1km checkpoint (<25mins)

  3. Heading to Old Fisherman Rock and turn left 

  4. Head to Ngau Chau (銀洲) and turn left

  5. Swim along the coastline and heading to PUBLIC pier

  6. Walk up the stairs of PUBLIC pier to finish.

Course Map : 3 km​

  1. Water start, take the stairs from the PUBLIC PIER

  2. Take SE direction and swim along the coast 

  3. Heading and pass Ngan Chau(銀洲), then turn left 

  4. Swim along the coastline and heading to TUNG WAN(東灣)Beach

  5. Finish at the TUNG WAN beach
