Nature of Sports: 

Open Water Swimming Race, 1.5 km Mass-start race + 1.5km  Handicap race*(Optional)

What is Handicap race*? 

 Handicap race is optional & will start shortly after Mass-start race. Each swimmer of Handicap race will be assigned an individual start time , according to the finish time of  Mass-start race. The general rule is faster swimmers start later / slower swimmers start earlier.

Race Start Time : 

Mass-Start race 9:30a.m. (All swimmers)

Handicap race 10:30a.m.  (For swimmers signed up for Handicap race only)

Entry Fees : 

  1. Mass-Start race

    • Early Bird:$200 (until April 30th) 

    • Standard :$250 (until May 24th) 

  2. Handicap race (Optional) 

    • Standard :$50 (until May 24th) 

  3. Lunch (Optional) 

    • $100/person, (Including French Fries, Chicken Wings, Spring Rolls, Spaghetti, Pizza),

    • Swimmers & guests join lunch are welcome to stay & use club facilities. 

  4. Swimming buoy (Optional purchase)

    • $300 (Collect buoy during the race day)

Prizes : 

  1. Mass-start race

    • Medals & prizes by Jaked for top 3 swimmers , for each Age Group category (Male / Female, Under 19/20-29/ 30-39/40-49 / 50 & Over). 

    • Trophies & prize money for overall female & male champions. 

  2. Handicap race

    • Prizes for top 10 winners by JaKed

Rules & Regulations:

  1. Declaration of responsibility is required for all swimmers

  2. No one should join the race unless he/she is physically fit, in excellent health, and fully expected to finish within the CUTOFF TIME of 45mins for 1.5km swim.

  3. Swimmers finish in over 45 mins in mass start race will not be allowed to join handicap race.

  4. You may be asked to provide proof of competence. If fail to do so, you may not be allowed to race.

  5. Swimmers must obey instructions to kayakers, helpers & personnel of the race.

  6. This is a club event. Swimmers will take full responsibility & safety during the race.

  7. Wetsuit is not allowed.

  8. Safety buoy is mandatory during the race.

Assemble at check-in point by the sea side of VRC,   Check-in, body marking, collect safety buoy(if ordered during sign up) & warm up.

Handicap race start sequence list announce at check in point.

  • 10:45am

Race start for 1st swimmer (Handicap race),

All swimmers start according to their individual assigned start time. 

  • 11:30am

Handicap race award

Lunch will be available for those ordered 

Course Map :

Mass Start / Handicap 1.5km course  

  • Water Start from Buoy “1”, swim to Buoys “2”, “3” and “1”, climb up floating piers & run to finish point.



Public Transport - Take Mini Bus No.9 (Sai Kung City - Lady MacLehose Holiday Village), get off at the stop of "Outward Bound School/外展訓練學校, then 5 mins walk to VRC

Driving - Public Parking is available at Tai Mong Chai road. 10mins walk  to  VRC.
